Be sure to select Plan or Detail BEFORE creating (can't be switched after - only within each type).

For Details, set "Parent View" to "<none>" to be able to see view in other (perpendicular) views AND to be able to control position (cut location) and view depth ("Far Clip Offset") independently.[1]

There seems to be a limit of the depth that callouts will be shown on plan (even if it's still within the primary range). Similar to Section Cuts, if it's not within the Primary Range of the View, it won't be shown (Plan Regions don't matter). However, it looks like it must ALSO be LESS than 4' (1219.2 mm) below Cut Plane (sometimes still visible when equal to 4' / 1219.2 - maybe roundoff error is involved).

Notes

  1. Otherwise, "Far Clip Settings" can be changed to "Independent" to allow changes to "Far Clip Offset" and/or "Show in" can be changed to "Intersecting Views" to make it visible (setting "Parent View" to "<none>" allows both AND also moving the cut location.
